ATPL: TALE OF THE FIRST TWO SEASONS

The Ahmedabad Tennis Premier League’s third season will kick start on 2nd February 2018 and will run for 10 days filled with sporting enthusiasm.

Heading into the the third season, the fans are in anticipation of what may turn out to be a bigger and better event relative to its last two prolific seasons. In the previous two editions, the event was well received by both the players and the spectators.

Inspired by the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), the ATPL runs on the principle format of round robin and eventual matchups of the league stage winners in the finals.

In its first season, the ATPL was won by ACTF Superstars who played the finals on their home courts at the Ahmedabad City Tennis Foundation. In the finale, they were up against the contingent of the Navrang Blossom Blasters. After the initial thrilling encounters, it all came down to the last match when the doubles encounter decided the fate of the champion team. Dharmesh Shah and Girish Dhanvani won the match 9-4 against Jayesh Gandhi and Pankaj Patadia to lift the championship trophy.

The following year, in the second season of the ATPL, yet again, it was ACTF Superstars and Navrang Blossom Blasters who converged in the finale stage to fight for the title. Just like the first edition, both teams fought tooth and nail and took 24 games apiece. Eventually, it was the ACTF Superstars who took the lead and won 27-25.

After their successful title defense in the second season, the ATPL Superstars must be hoping to repeat the feat in the more magnanimous and much awaited third season.
